Living with diabetes
Diabetes Healthcare!
I think I am angry, but most definitely disappointed when it comes to diabetes support/care at the adult side of our regional hospital.
When you change a type 2's regimen from oral meds to insulin injection; there is so much that needs to happen.
From explanation, counseling, education among others. Many people have not touched Syringes. So many others ( non-healthcare professionals) have not driven a syringe into a skin....
This one time when someone gets switched from oral meds to injection....you throw at them 3 syringes and a vial of mixtard (supply for a month) and tell them "go start on injections", they plead with you to guide them on what to do. You throw back words 'find out from your colleagues".
Hello?
Sometimes I just feel disgusted with you all that dispense meds and behave like this? Who told you to apply for that job, go cry at your uncle's feet to have you admitted for this job. Stop killing us and making certian situations worse. If you didn't know you are killing, just imagine how much blood you currently have on your hands for such reckless, unprofessional acts.
So many people out there have walked these streets to a point of having holes in thier shoes. These are people with great potential and would help change the face of heathcare here, and you are there blocking him / her off this chance .If I had the powers, many of you would have seen what the monkey saw in the garden of peas the other day...
How do you tell people who have never touched a needle go inject themselves...just like that?
I am glad to have come to the aid of one who was willing to give up on life because she just didn't know where to start! She was ready to go home and die a slow death!
How many will cross our paths for such support
See what happens if we don't get it right from the word go
You give less meds and insulin to our people and don't advise them to top up from their own money. Not all of us are educated or know what to do. Guide us! If you can't give us enough meds or the best we can lay our hands on, explain to us the options and let us be part of our healthcare. Is it too much to ask?
Stop gambling with our lives ...go home and look for another job if you can't perform.
Did you know many diabetics can't have a decent conversation with their "healthcare team" around here?
Open your mouth and wait for backlashes! They will call you all sorts of names for suggesting/ insisting on having a doctor check your numb feet, painful eyes, or just that something that feels off. Don't even suggest a different regimen or recommend your numbers to be reviewed and something done on the complications already presenting. What are we alone?
If you can't do your job well, treat us with respect and dignity, perhaps move away from there...
Diabetes is a serious condition that requires it to be treated seriously and it needs the attention it deserves
