Eh Men!

Image
So the other day I attended a school meeting. The administration tried to keep it to just an hour which was dope save for some self proclaimed angelic men in the house that dragged us into more good minutes. They went on to dress code and hit straight at women. Yes 2 men...even if we could see a few patriarchy at play, glad they agreed in silence but these two! So man goes on to point his filthy finger at how "indecent" dress code affects education. And I start wondering how dress code affects one's intellect. We all know there are some dressings that raise eyebrows but none was in the room, but again we must feel comfortable in our own skin and clothes, that's what matters. One will point out "mind your environment"...I once attended a wedding millions of leagues away from home in a place hotter than my own and the priest wedded the couple in shorts and a t-shirt while some people were dying in suits, very unbearable! Anyway, back to this man. So he ...

The double standards at work places

I am and will remain baffled at the double standards at work places.  Have you seen organisation/institution vehicles being engaged in private work? The question is, who is supposed to abuse this vehicle? Is it you in the lower position or top management? Decipher for yourself. All these organisation vehicles transporting children to and from school are orders from above and directly benefitting top managers. If you stay around schools, you definitely have seen this. Remember someone has to sacrifice and "protect" their job by doing this extra task. The task is done using organisational fuel and human resource!  Can a junior staff "benefit" from this service? NO! Imagine one time a junior staff rec...

My shield and Pillar

I don't recall when we started talking. He is an intellectual writer and I love reading especially reading sensible writings. That is how I always liked or commented on his posts on one of the various social media platforms.  One day during an outreach activity, we "brushed" at one another. He didn't notice me and I wasn't really looking so I missed him too. I think I later received a message from him saying we missed each other...fast forward. He started encouraging me in the diabetes initiative that many already know about. Before I knew it, he was one of my pillars! Keeping me firm in the drive. So this past diabetes concert in October, he was right there on time despite being under the weather. He stayed on. I have no idea what time he left, but after midnight for sure. After my speech. He called me aside and shocked me with his words. See, not so many give much around here, so truth be told I was overwhelmed. In his words "let me know the gate co...
