My Little Prison (From the afterlife diary)

I remember waking up in the dead of the night. Every occupant on the neighbouring beds slept peacefully or so it seemed.

Pain reeked through my body, I flinched

I grabbed the edges of bed and shifted

I felt my breath leave me

I closed my eyes tighter

They burned so strongly

I was afraid a well of tears would follow

I bit my lower lip and said silent prayers

No tears, not today, not yet

I knew the day for it would come, but just not today

I tried to calculate my breath, but all in vain

In a strange land

I felt abandoned

I simply gave up and all I wanted was to have an eternal sleep
