Baba, the Lion is Sleeping Never to Wake Up.

I froze that Saturday morning as tears streamed down my face like Aruu falls in the rainy season

Breath stuck in my lungs as a lump lodged itself on my throat

My mind raced all over trying to ascertain how they got to you

Your baby Winnie told us how you promised her never to let your guard down

And when she received the devastating news that Aug 21, she immediately knew you did at some point,

It could have been a blink of an eye, but they got to you Lion

Maria your star sent you off with a heartwarming message through spoken word

Glad she did one for you before they put you down

Yes, she reminded us of your great looks that we all know to be of movie stars

Many hearts crashed alongside that of your wife, not that you were not true to her,

But many were deeply in love with you, without your knowledge

More people were left dazed as you commanded many admirers, a fearless man of great intellectual;

One respected by so many

Isn't that what Lions are anyway?

You towered above all, oozed of melanin, your smile warmed hearts

God spent a little more time on you surely

You were the epitome of truth and integrity
You loved your country Gen. Lokech, you loved your country

You served, we know the final call was never yours to make,

All you did was to obey

We also know you stood up for the truth and for the people

We wonder if that could be one of the many reasons for them snapping life out of you

All can tell of the beautiful family you raised

Your commander in chief, Winnie did justice to what you taught the entire family

Your cubs were nurtured with so much love and have grown into lions and lionesses

They loved you and will forever do so with the fibres of their very being
Your wife loves you fiercely and now she has to learn to live without you

And why? Because cowards ruthlessly ended your life

Death is cruel

But what is crueler is if life is sucked out of another by another

They took you baba, they took you away from us

Acoli mourns, the north is sad, it is a melancholic state in the country and Africa

A son of the soil has been taken,

The Lion is sleeping and will not wake from this sleep

No one will convince me that your death was natural...

Let me be called all sorts of names for that and be treated in whatever manner,

But a man such as you doesn't fall down like a fly swatted, Noooooo

My people will not rest until the cowards come crawling, yes they will crawl and seek for forgiveness

It won't bring you back baba, it won't, but the truth will be out, the world will know, we shall know and you will find peace

Owot ki wiye  baba, owot ki wiye

Your legacy won't die baba. Rest well, rest well

Strength is all we can pray for all who truly loved and cared for you
