Meeting the Gorilla!


For weeks on end, I waited for that day
The excitement grew by the minute
5 days to the meeting, I started putting together my stuff
I had to travel for three solid days to meet the Gorilla

The day arrived and my fingers were so sticky from sweat, finally!
We started early on day 3 as we had to locate the Gorilla
Through the jungle, i trodded with the person
Little did i know that a team had been sent ahead to make our meeting easier

Oh My God!
We all stood in our track!
He stood so tall and big with streaks of grey on its back! He looked at me with intent and went back to eating and that meant, welcome, proceed! So I went ahead to meet the rest of the family!
Like any family, the child who has just learned to walk always steals the show
This last born was all over the place climbing the trees with different styles, making leaps, all the while glancing and smiling at me. Every other family member was resting (lying down or taking a nap). She entertained me until it was my time to take leave.

As we (i and the other person) were about to leave, we were all left wondering what had changed all of a sudden, why a member of the family charged! Then we saw a group of humans coming towards us, the group always hanged around the forest
This gorilla charged directly at one particular guy, the rest of the group tried to shield him, but we could all tell, he wanted to yank at the guy, it appeared like he wanted revenge, he wanted to show him life, he wanted to punish him, he wanted to end him! It was so scary to watch such a furious big guy running after the human
He had to be escorted by a team out of the area as they tried to keep the giant away from him
Only then was i informed that the human beat the gorilla a few days ago and this gorilla has since picked at him. He will always go for him
How human they are!
My meeting with the alpha and his family remained in my heart!  A very beautiful moment it was!

On a day like this, all I need is to get to the jungle and get swallowed up by nature! I am craving the smell of the forest!
