For weeks on end, I waited for that day The excitement grew by the minute 5 days to the meeting, I started putting together my stuff I had to travel for three solid days to meet the Gorilla The day arrived and my fingers were so sticky from sweat, finally! For some reason a child having hair, especially a full head of hair is a problem around here. A lady commented on a girl's hair today. "Cut off her hair, it's too long for her". Many mothers have been nagged to a point of cutting off their children's beautiful hair. I recall Queen's hair being long enough to hold it into a bun at 6mos old and these "wise" females who would always visit and complain on the length. I ignored many, explained to some and had to get my Africanness at play. My response these days is permanent on "give birth to a girl and chop off her hair" Hair is so beautiful especially when maintained!
