Why i love the sweeter adults

I have your backs T2Ds (Type 2 Diabetics)!

Have you heard people say things like
"I don't feel pity for T2Ds? These are rich people who have failed to look after their health...These people called for the condition upon themselves. They could have avoided all this!..."

I was like you back then until i had my rude awakening in 2015. However, despite the July 2 episode when my girl got diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, the over 10 days in the hospital did not immediately show a need to extend my dream then to do something about type 2 diabetes. My focus was on type 1 diabetes, the unknown type of diabetes among many and later gestational diabetes relatively unknown as well. All i ever heard about yet never paid attention to was type 2 diabetes, the statistics we see, is mostly on type 2, the few airplays, screenplays, written media is mostly if not all on type 2 diabetes, how would we then know these other types...not even the prediabetes stage, very little said about it. So i definitely felt a lot was and is being done about type 2 diabetes...I was wrong given the context of my commuity...

Not until i mingled with the T2Ds, listened to their stories, followed the forums they are in, read more about their conditions did i realise that i had to include them in my dream. The triggers and management of T2D are very different from that of T1D, but they have the same effects that end up with death.

Brace yourself as i take you through my lens
Not all T2Ds are old, rich, fat, eat expensive "junk" from the supermarket.
Not all T2Ds are "lazy" and wait for it to come strike
Not all T2Ds are aware of diabetes
Not all T2Ds with diabetes in their family line know how to prolong the onset
Many of the T2Ds i have interfaced with do not even own cars, let alone bicycles. They toil in the garden from morning to sunset, eat the "not cool" meals, not that they want to, but they cannot afford the meals that kill us, they don't even know that what they wish to have as daily meals are that deadly

Many T2Ds would do anything to keep away from the monster
Imagine, having sleepless nights because of radiating pain on your body
Your legs feeling like they will be tender from all the burning
Imagine the rough, tough skin, skin so scaly and painful
Imagine not being able to feel sharp objects stuck on your feet (sometime for days until you see it), your feet burning from the heat of the fire and you cannot feel it
Ever wondered the scare the younger boys and men get when they fail to erect for their sugars have been screamingly high and no one told them the benefit of keeping sugars in check or how they should do it; the recurrent yeast infection becuase the bacteria love all the sweetness down there...

Who wants to go blind, lose their limbs, develop heart problems, treat failed or failing kidneys
Who wants to lose their hearing, have their body parts rot as they watch, have  parts of their bodies sliced off due to diabetes complications
Who wants to remain on any form of medication for life, whether orals or injections
Do you desire to count carbs before every meal? Some T2Ds are subjected to this eternally, and all must watch what they eat.
Imagine facing death everyday and dying each day from the pain of leaving your children so young...
T2Ds are denied jobs, job benefits, days off when they are down
Even a sickness that should be passing from a neighbours will branch and attack T2Ds,
The stigma around diabetes type 2 is very heavy and real that some people would rather keep their condition to themeselves
Well these are a few of the daily pain and routine of many of the T2Ds.
Tell me again that they would really want to have all this shit in their lives...
Diabetes care and management is so draining

You and i and all of us have a role to play;
First we need to spread awareness on all kinds of diabetes
We should know how to detect it
our medical professionals must have it as one of the causes for someone being at their table looking the way they are looking
Where is the media in all this, how many times do we see diabetes being projected for the world
The death factor is there, diabetes is the 7th leading cause of death and kills more than HIV/AIDS and breast cancer combined so we have been informed from credible sources
How many families are affected by diabetes?
Just picture this, the monster is eating at all these people and jumping on more people; once it has had its full, people will start falling like sprayed cockroaches
Are we waiting for that time?
Do your part and we might survive this catastrophic occurrence
So i am standing up for people suffering from type 2 diabetes, for the majority are adults and we need them amidst us
Have you dreamt of a community full of children and teenagers and a few young adults; well i do not want to have that dream.
We need these adults around us.
Let's look at a family with a type 1 child and type 2 parents. Imagine these parents' lives are prematurely ended because of unmanaged diabetes; where does that leave the type 1 diabetic.

Either way, every life is precious to me and we just cannot lose it like that, not in a situation that we can do something about it
