The foul mouth of the helped

Remember where you come from…
Always do!

Do you remember that morning when you came to me in tears?
Actual tears rolling down your cheeks
Please help me
I can’t bear this life like this
My husband is so abusive
I need a job, anything; houses help, cleaner, anything
I need to earn to survive this world

Just two days passed
You popped into my office
Looking frail
You looked like you hadn’t eaten for days
With my meager earnings
I fed you
I didn’t mind it
I would not have remembered all these…
But your acts now…
Like I am the vilest person on this planet

You asked me just two days after your first plea in my house
Is there any news for me?
No, I will let you know once I hear of anything
With both hands on your head
You walked away
My heart sank looking at you this way
Immediately i checked in with everyone I had asked to help out
Before the week ended
You had a job
Money you had never held in one go
You lightened up
I sank back knowing you were at peace

Before 3 months elapsed
Another opportunity emerged
Something way bigger than what you were earning
Quadrupling what you were getting
You looked happy with this, but I needed to see you better
I could have looped in someone else
But I chose you
Remember I chose you

Less than 6 months in
You turned your ass on me
Before the world,
You painted me a pain in your life
You screamed to the world how I wanted you out of the job
You took to all platforms to announce my “hatred” for you
And how I promised to make your life unbearable

I was dumbfounded
I was lost
Was I missing something?
Why would I spend my energy in building you only to destroy you?
What would I gain from blowing out your candle?

Do you think the money you have is everything you need
You think you can cut out these hands that lifted you up, supported you
Steadied you when you almost fell

You think you can burn the hands that have made you experience life on the other side of the world
Are you sure you do not need these hands anymore?
Do you think you are done with these hands?

Did I even know you well enough?
Did you coil your tail so I could feel pity for you?
Human, stand in front of that mirror and think back
See where all this began
See how it went on
Reflect if you think life is what you are making

Never abuse the hands that helped you
Never step on the hands that supported you
Never insult the hands that have fed you
Always appreciate the hand that has fed or helped you
