My Heart Defied Me

 

My heart defied me
Against my will
Against every energy I gathered
Against my sanity
It bounced like a  child who had just received a present he had been longing for, for so long
It took off at a speed even wind couldn't catch up
I yelled,  I screamed after it, calling it back
It didn't even bother to look back or slow down
Bouncy bouncy it went

All I could do was wait!
And yes, one evening I saw a shadow approaching
At first I had no idea that was my heart
It looked like a cat beaten under rain for days on end
With its tail between its legs
It fell down before me
Afraid to look up into my eyes
It was ashamed for love had failed it
It didn't believe me when I told it many months ago that you don't swoon to love,
You don't close your eyes when love is around
You keep your guard up
It broke down
The tears that had been held back flowed like a fountain being fed from the sea

And yes! That is love! Keep your eyes and brain open and alert!
Run when you see the first sign-Just run and run faster
