Must wars take away our children?

My twins ripped from my breasts
Head smashed on a tree
The other pounded in a mortar
Life drained out of me
Darkness filled my surrounding

Woke up with a start...
Unable to close my legs
A pain sharper than anything pierced through my body
Head pounding like it would split in the next second
Flies buzzing everywhere

Opening my eyes
Several dead surrounded me
I shifted a bit
The pain bit in
I sank back

I opened my lips,
Words stuck in my throat
My lips so perched
I couldn't lick it
All i needed was water

Where are my babies?

Then it dawned on me            The events of the day
I broke down
I couldn't cry
couldn't scream
I lay there helpless
Bleeding profusely
All i wanted was to die
Must wars take away our children?

Death come take me

Through the eyes of AYENYO Joanita
